The space

The House of Pauli Murray sits close to the water’s edge with a direct dock to its beauty. The hermitage is a cozy cabin with a twin bed and a single trundle bed underneath, wood burning and electric fireplace. It has a porch with in-floor heat.

  • self-catering with environmentally friendly compost toilets
  • kitchenette with microwave, coffeemaker, small refrigerator, hot plate, dishes, cookware, linens, blankets, towels, coffee/tea etc.
  • no wifi
  • accessible by car
  • Sleeps 1-2 (1 single bed, 1 fold out or trundle twin bed)

Additional items to bring

Personal toiletries and comfortable clothing, refreshment/food items as desired, and reading/reflection material.  Plus bug spray, sunscreen, walking shoes, swimming gear and beach towel for summer- warm hiking clothes for winter.

Other things to note

We foster a space free from oppression so that we can take steps toward healing.  Our guests help us to do that by caring for the land and the people on it with mutual reverence. Collectively we center Black and Indigenous communities.

Activities + Amenities

Guests also have full access to an eco-trail through the woods, a pond with assorted small boats, a fire pit for bonfires, the 7 circuit labyrinth in the prairie, and all amenities available in the Wellness Center.
